Is there a registration fee for attending WebWise 2007? How do I register?
There is no fee for attending the conference, however, pre-registration is required. To register, please click on the "Register Online" link on the left side of this page. Registration for the WebWise Conference reaches capacity every year. Therefore, early registration is recommended.

Can anyone attend the pre-conference workshops?
Yes, anyone can attend the pre-conference workshops. However, pre-registration is required and attendance will be limited to 125 guests for each workshop.

How do I register for the pre-conference workshops?
There is no fee to attend the pre-conference workshops. When you register for the overall WebWise Conference, you will have the option to sign up for a morning and/or an afternoon pre-conference workshop. To register, please click on the "Register Online" hyperlink link on the left side of this page. Each workshop will be limited to 125 guests.

What meals are provided during the conference?
Continental breakfast is provided for those who pre-register for the morning pre-conference workshop on Wednesday, March 5, 2008.

Lunch is provided for those who pre-register for the afternoon pre-conference workshops on Wednesday, March 5, 2008.

The opening reception on Wednesday, March 5, 2008 is open to all pre-registered conference attendees.Continental breakfast and lunch are provided on Thursday, March 6, 2008 for all pre-registered conference attendees.

How do I get to the Convention Center?
Shuttle bus transportation will be provided to the Miami Beach Convention Center from the Four Points Sheraton and the Holiday Inn. Because the hotels are located next to each other, the motor coach will pick up guests along the street that separates the two properties. There will be a “WebWise” sign in the front window of the shuttle bus. Following is the shuttle schedule:

7:00 am – 10:00 am – Continuous (looping) shuttle service. Last pick up at 10:00 am.

7:30 am to 10:00 am – Continuous (looping) shuttle service. Last pick up at 10:00 am.

Please note that shuttle service is only provided in the morning, and WebWise participants are responsible for their own transportation after the WebWise Conference.

Is parking available at the Convention Center?
Yes, parking is available at the municipal lot on Convention Center Drive ("Preferred Lot"), at a rate of $15.00 per day subject to space availability. The preferred lot is located near the "C Hall" of the Convention Center.  If you park near C Hall, once you enter the Center, take the skywalk to the "B Hall" where the WebWise activities are located.

Disabled parking is located in the Preferred Lot (17th Street & Convention Center Drive).  Elevators are located on the building’s east & west sides, and at the center "pod."  Wheelchair ramps are located on the east side, and on the first floor level.

Will high-speed internet access be available at the WebWise Conference?

Yes, wireless internet will be accessible in all conference rooms. Please note that wireless access cannot be guaranteed in common space areas of the Miami Beach Conference Center, i.e. hallways.

How do I access the WebWise wiki and blog?

A user login and password are needed to access the WebWise wiki and blog. This information will be provided upon registration, and will also be included in the registration confirmation letter.

Where and when will the welcome reception be held?
The welcome reception takes place at The Wolfsonian-FIU on Wednesday, March 5, 2008 from 5-7pm. The reception is co-sponsored with a number of arts institutions representing the Miami museum and library community.

The Wolfsonian-FIU is located at 1001 Washington Avenue on Miami Beach.

How do I get to the Welcome Reception at The Wolfsonian-FIU?
Conference attendees will need to provide their own transportation to the Welcome Reception at The Wolfsonian. Transportation options include:

Walking: The Wolfsonian is located approximately 10 blocks from the Convention Center. To walk to the Wolfsonian, exit the east side of the Convention Center and turn right on Washington Avenue; continue walking (approximately 10 blocks) until you reach the intersection of Washington Avenue and 10th Street. Walking is not recommended from the Four Points Sheraton or Holiday Inn.

Cab: Cab fares from either the Convention Center (approximately 5 minutes away) or the hotels (approximately 10 minutes away) should be low. Central Cab (Phone 305.532.5555) is a recommended cab company.

South Beach Circular: Coming from the Convention Center, WebWise attendees can ride on the South Beach Circular bus to The Wolfsonian. South Beach Circular buses make pick-ups every 10-15 minutes, and a ride to The Wolfsonian from the Convention Center will take approximately 8 minutes (note: please verify with the driver that you are on the bus traveling in the right direction). The stop at the Convention Center is located at the intersection of Pennsylvania and 17th Street, and the closest stop to The Wolfsonian will be on either Washington Avenue and 11th Street or Washington Avenue and 9th Street. Each trip on the South Beach Circular is 25 cents a person.

How do I make a hotel reservation? Is there a special conference rate?
A limited number of sleeping rooms remain blocked for WebWise Conference attendees at the Holiday Inn Miami Beach. Since March is peak season for Miami Beach, we do expect all hotels in the area to be sold out during the dates of the WebWise Conference. Participants are encouraged to make their reservations immediately in order to ensure availability. What are my travel options from the airport to my hotel or the Miami Beach Convention Center?

What should I wear to WebWise?

Business casual attire is appropriate for the conference. In keeping with the Latin-inspired theme, dress for the welcome reception is tropical chic.
