MIAMI BEACH AND GREATER MIAMI

Miami Beach has been a premier tourist destination since the 1920s. With sun, sand, fine dining, and unique entertainment, Miami beach and its surrounding areas have plenty to offer. Museums, beaches, and shopping, and other attractions are located just minutes from the Miami Beach Convention Center, while a host of additional experiences can be found in Greater Miami, just across beautiful Biscayne Bay.

When it comes to enjoying the sites, there is a long list of things to see and do in Miami and Miami Beach.  A selection follows.

Miami Beach Landmarks

  • South Beach / Ocean Drive - A place to see and be seen, the sandy beaches of South Beach offer sun and surf. The famous Ocean Drive runs parallel to the shore, and is lined with pastel Art Deco buildings containing restaurants, hotels, shops, and cafes.

  • Miami Design Preservation League  - Offers a number of tours highlighting the area’s unique Art Deco, Mediterranean Revival, and MiMo (Miami Modern) architecture. Visit their website to learn more about the different architectural styles and for a complete schedule of available tours.

  • Lincoln Road - A lively pedestrian mall with unique shopping and dining options, Lincoln Road is located between 16th and 17th streets.

  • Amsterdam Palace (Versace Mansion) - Located on Ocean Drive and 11th Street, the Beautiful and infamous Casa Casuarina is a popular tourist stop.

  • Holocaust Memorial - Dedicated in 1990, the Miami Beach Holocaust Memorial is a unique monument designed by architect and sculptor Kenneth Treister.

What is happening around town in March?

  • Concerts and the Tony Award winning Spamalot will be performed at the state-of-the-art Carnival Center for the Performing Arts. Please visit their website to view a calendar of events.

  • Each second Saturday of the month, galleries in the Wynwood Art District stay open late to provide art, food, drinks, and performances to the public.

  • Check out the calendar of events at the Greater Miami Convention and Visitor’s Bureau websites for updated information on what will be happening during your stay.
  • The Miami Film Festival will be taking place from February 28 through March 9. Please visit their website for a full description of films, venues, and movie times.
